About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site residential energy audits, including HVAC systems, insulation, lighting, appliances, and building envelope.
- Use diagnostic tools such as blower doors, duct blasters, watt meters, and thermal guns to assess air leakage and energy performance.
- Collect and analyze utility data, homeowner usage patterns, and building specifications.
- Utilize software tools to input data and prioritize recommendations for energy-saving improvements.
- Educate homeowners about energy-saving opportunities, rebates, and best practices.
- Perform post-installation inspections to verify the effectiveness of energy upgrades.
- Collaborate with contractors, community organizations, and utility representatives to ensure program integrity.
Requirements
- Located in or near central Michigan or the Upper Peninsula.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in energy, construction, or environmental science preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in field services, quality control, or energy efficiency/utility consulting.
- Knowledge of building science and construction.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Ability to travel 25% to 75% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- BPI Quality Control Inspector certification (or ability to acquire within 60 days of employment).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
