Home Energy Assessor

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site residential energy audits, including HVAC systems, insulation, lighting, appliances, and building envelope.
• Use diagnostic tools such as blower doors, duct blasters, watt meters, and thermal guns to assess air leakage and energy performance.
• Collect and analyze utility data, homeowner usage patterns, and building specifications.
• Utilize software tools to input data and prioritize recommendations for energy-saving improvements.
• Educate homeowners about energy-saving opportunities, rebates, and best practices.
• Perform post-installation inspections to verify the effectiveness of energy upgrades.
• Collaborate with contractors, community organizations, and utility representatives to ensure program integrity.

Requirements

• Located in or near central Michigan or the Upper Peninsula.
• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in energy, construction, or environmental science preferred).
• 2+ years of experience in field services, quality control, or energy efficiency/utility consulting.
• Knowledge of building science and construction.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Ability to travel 25% to 75% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

• BPI Quality Control Inspector certification (or ability to acquire within 60 days of employment).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
