HITL Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Design, maintain, and operate hardware in the loop (HITL) systems
• Develop and implement tools and automation solutions to optimize HITL operations
• Work within a small team to support avionic test systems from production to launch
• Verify functionality and performance of avionic components
• Operate launch vehicle simulation platforms for Day of Launch operations
• Work hands-on with test and flight space hardware
• Create and maintain technical documentation including system diagrams, schematics, and ICDs
• Analyze test results from raw data for pass/fail criteria
• Troubleshoot root causes of anomalies and communicate results to internal teams and vendors
• Operate and capture data from test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, electronics, computer science, aerospace engineering, or a related field
• 1+ years of engineering experience with hardware or software development
• Practical experience with Python development for backend applications
• Theoretical and/or practical understanding of electronic systems
• Exposure to designing and implementing test systems for electronics
• Understanding of sensors, signal conditioning, and data acquisition electronics

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in a relevant engineering field
• Prior experience on HITL, Avionics, or Software test teams
• Experience with harness manufacturing, electrical connectors, crimping, and soldering
• Familiarity with Ethernet, RS485/422/232, CAN, LVDS, or SpaceWire protocols
• Experience with computer networking, switching, routing, and subnetting
• Proficiency with Python, C++, Linux, CI/CD, Git, NX, or SolidWorks
• Experience with PLCs, relays, and power systems
