Histotechnologist II

Responsibilities

• Perform histology laboratory procedures to produce tissue slides in a CLIA/CAP-certified laboratory
• Execute routine sectioning, fixation, and processing for H&E staining of FF and FFPE samples
• Prepare and perform processing procedures for DNA and RNA extraction
• Label and accession patient samples and test requisitions using the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Maintain histology equipment, including quality control worksheets and preventive maintenance records
• Perform microdissection of unstained slides and prepare reagents, solutions, and controls
• Monitor the histology queue and prioritize tasks to ensure high-quality results with minimal supervision
• Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely specimen processing

Requirements

• Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program with 3+ years of laboratory experience (or equivalent experience based on education level)
• Basic computer skills, including internet navigation and email usage
• Ability to work designated shifts, including nights and weekends as needed
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Possession of active ASCP Board of Certification (e.g., HT ASCP, HLT ASCP)
