Histopathology Operations Specialist I

Responsibilities

• Perform real-time technical support to pathologists, including specimen quality assessments and measurements
• Maintain proper documentation for specimen handling, labeling, and quality control measures
• Execute specimen and data stewardship to ensure integrity and testing continuity
• Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and scanning of stained slides with digital scanners
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
• Assist in attributing and debulking clinical and research study patient specimens
• Escalate specimen and data inquiries as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in logistics, science, technology, or another regulated field
• OR Associates Degree in biological, life, or laboratory sciences and 2 years of experience in a regulated field
• OR Bachelor’s degree in biological or life sciences

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working within a CLIA or CAP-certified laboratory
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Cancer Biology, or medical terminology
• Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a laboratory environment
