Histology Lab Operator II

Responsibilities

• Assist certified/licensed personnel in clinical patient testing in accordance with SOP
• Perform histological preparations for the tissue whole exome sequencing laboratory
• Prepare tissues, stained slides, and perform macrodissection
• Set up equipment and assist with automated lab procedures
• Maintain equipment, instruments, and sufficient inventory of supplies
• Document information accurately following Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
• Provide guidance and training for new team members on specialized protocols
• Identify and escalate stuck cases or unresolved issues

Requirements

• Minimum of 2+ years of related experience
• Associate's degree or higher in a histotechnician program, or in chemical/biological sciences with relevant training
• Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological sciences with specific biology/chemistry coursework and histology training
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
• Ability to work in a BSL-2 laboratory environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with specialized histology instrumentation
• Proficiency in Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
