HIL Engineer (Automotive)

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, optimize, and maintain HIL test environments and new HIL rigs
• Lead technical decisions, define HIL architecture, and drive best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software components and clarify requirements
• Conduct verification and validation testing, including regression testing for software and hardware
• Analyze and troubleshoot complex issues to improve system reliability
• Drive automation of test cases and HIL workflows

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Engineering (Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanics, Software) or equivalent experience
• At least 7 years of experience in HIL or SIL test environment development
• Hands-on experience with HIL tools such as dSPACE, National Instruments, or Vector (CANoe, CANape, VTESTstudio)
• Proficiency in programming languages including Python, C++, C#, or CAPL
• Solid knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet, UDS)
• Experience with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and requirements handling
• Ability to manage HIL systems, including CI/CD pipelines and version control

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in vehicle environments
• Valid European driving license
• Good understanding of automotive safety standards such as ISO 26262
