Highways Maintenance Operative

Responsibilities

• Support the efficient and timely delivery of highway service requirements across the Somerset network
• Carry out reactive works, emergency response, and minor civils or improvement works
• Participate in winter maintenance and severe weather operations
• Respond to highway defects within designated timescales
• Install and remove emergency traffic management signage
• Use tablet devices to provide accurate records of works and update relevant parties
• Conduct daily defect reports on vehicles and ensure they are maintained in good order
• Promote customer care by interacting politely with client and network users

Requirements

• Full driving licence
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Strong communication skills to report faults or issues
