Highway Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct highway and roadway routine maintenance activities
• Clean and clear culverts, mow, and clear brush from roadsides
• Patch broken or eroded pavements and shoulders
• Assist in storm cleanup and emergency response
• Repair fences and signs
• Perform litter and debris removal
• Operate highway maintenance equipment and hand/power tools

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• At least 18 years of age
• Valid Georgia driver’s license with at least 3 years of clean driving record
• Demonstrated training or experience in roadway maintenance
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
• Ability to lift moderately heavy objects and perform physical tasks like bending, climbing, and standing for long periods
• Ability to operate power tools such as chainsaws, pole saws, and weed eaters
