Highway Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Clean and clear culverts
• Mow and clear brush from roadsides
• Patch broken or eroded pavements and shoulders
• Assist in storm cleanup
• Perform fence and sign repair
• Remove litter and debris
• Respond to emergencies
• Operate highway maintenance equipment
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and brooms
• Use power tools such as chainsaws, pole saws, weed eaters, and backpack blowers

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• At least 18 years of age
• Valid driver's license with at least 3 years of clean driving
• Able to work in adverse weather conditions
• Able to lift moderately heavy objects
• Able to bend, climb, stand, stoop, or walk for long periods
• Accurate eye-hand coordination
• Ability to adapt to changing situations, work plans, and schedules
