Highway Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Clean and clear culverts
• Mowing and clearing brush from roadsides
• Patching broken or eroded pavements and shoulders
• Assist in storm cleanup
• Fence and sign repair
• Litter and debris removal
• Emergency response
• Operate highway maintenance equipment
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and brooms
• Use power tools such as chainsaws, pole saws, weed eaters, and backpack blowers

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• At least 18 years of age
• Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of clean driving history
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
• Ability to lift moderately heavy objects
• Ability to bend, climb, stand, stoop, or walk for long periods
• Accurate eye-hand coordination
• Ability to adapt to changing work plans and schedules
