Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Responsibilities

• Complement the professional work of teachers by planning, preparing, and delivering learning activities for individuals, groups, or whole classes.
• Monitor children and assess, record, and report on their achievement, progress, and development.
• Manage and develop teaching within the academy and oversee other teaching assistants, including work allocation, appraisal, and training.
• Take a lead role in addressing the needs of children who require particular help to overcome barriers to learning.
• Support children, teachers, and the academy to raise standards of achievement for SEN, EAL, more able, and underachieving groups.
• Encourage children to become independent learners and support their welfare and inclusion in all aspects of academy life.

Requirements

• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• At least two years of school-based experience as a Teaching Assistant or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of various learning barriers, including Special Educational Needs (SEN).
• Experience contributing to and assessing provision for children with a range of needs.
• Understanding of social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
