About the role
Responsibilities
- Complement the professional work of teachers by planning, preparing, and delivering learning activities for individuals, groups, or whole classes.
- Monitor children and assess, record, and report on their achievement, progress, and development.
- Manage and develop teaching within the academy, including the supervision, appraisal, and training of other teaching assistants.
- Take a lead role in addressing the needs of children who require particular help to overcome barriers to learning.
- Support children, teachers, and the academy to raise standards of achievement for SEN, EAL, more able, and underachieving groups.
- Encourage children to become independent learners and support their welfare and inclusion in all aspects of academy life.
Requirements
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
- At least two years of school-based experience as a Teaching Assistant or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of various learning barriers, including special educational needs.
- Experience contributing to and assessing provision for children with a range of needs.
- Understanding of the social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
