Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Responsibilities

• Support students in their learning by establishing productive working relationships and providing feedback
• Support teachers by teaching groups of students, planning lessons, and administering/marking tests
• Deliver learning activities in line with local and national learning strategies
• Select and prepare necessary resources to lead learning activities
• Monitor, assess, record, and report on student achievement, progress, and development
• Take responsibility for the management and development of a specific subject area or the management of other teaching assistants

Requirements

• Experience working with children of a relevant age
• Experience working with students with additional needs
• Experience delivering literacy and reading/writing recovery programmes
• NVQ Level 2 in English and Maths (or equivalent)
• A level or equivalent NQF Level 3
• Knowledge of specialist curriculum areas or specific learning difficulties

Preferred Qualifications

• Evidence of fulfilling Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards
• Specialist skills such as bi-lingual abilities, sign language, or ICT qualifications
• Training in relevant learning strategies
