About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach a curriculum including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Sciences to prepare students for AP and collegiate coursework
- Develop student skills in questioning, modeling, data analysis, and conducting interactive labs
- Facilitate student-led scientific discourse and inquiry-based learning
- Analyze student work samples and assessments weekly with instructional coaches
- Implement differentiated instruction strategies for all learners
- Build positive relationships with students and partner with families to support learning needs
- Participate in professional development, mentorship, and school-wide meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Academic expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields
- Demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools
- Ability to meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements
- Commitment to the mission of Uncommon Schools
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience working with K-12 students in urban communities
