About the role

Responsibilities

  • Teach a curriculum including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Sciences to prepare students for AP and collegiate coursework
  • Develop student skills in questioning, modeling, data analysis, and conducting interactive labs
  • Facilitate student-led scientific discourse and inquiry-based learning
  • Analyze student work samples and assessments weekly with instructional coaches
  • Implement differentiated instruction strategies for all learners
  • Build positive relationships with students and partner with families to support learning needs
  • Participate in professional development, mentorship, and school-wide meetings

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Academic expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields
  • Demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools
  • Ability to meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements
  • Commitment to the mission of Uncommon Schools

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience working with K-12 students in urban communities
