About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach a curriculum prioritizing World, US History, American Government, and Economics
- Facilitate student-led discourse and peer-to-peer debate
- Guide students in primary and secondary source analysis and argumentation
- Build an inclusive and safe classroom environment
- Analyze student work samples and assessments weekly with instructional coaches
- Implement differentiated instruction strategies for all learners
- Build positive relationships with students and partner with families
- Participate in professional development, mentorship, and school-wide meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or the Humanities
- Demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools
- Ability to meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements
- Commitment to supporting students' social-emotional and academic development
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in urban school communities
