Responsibilities
- Teach a robust literature curriculum prioritizing inclusive texts and AP/SAT preparation
- Guide students through deep exploration of diverse authors and complex texts
- Develop students' independent and collaborative reading, writing, and discussion skills
- Facilitate student-led discourse and evidence-based argumentation
- Analyze student comprehension and adapt lessons to maximize learning
- Meet weekly with leadership to analyze student work and assessment trends
- Build positive relationships with students and partner with families to support learning
- Participate in professional development, mentorship, and school-wide meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Academic expertise in Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or related fields
- Demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban communities
- Ability to meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
- Commitment to supporting students' social-emotional and academic development
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience working with K-12 students in urban schools
