High School Counselor

Responsibilities

• Plan and promote guidance curriculum lessons to address student developmental needs, including decision making, goal setting, and interpersonal effectiveness.
• Provide responsive services through individual counseling and small group sessions addressing academic success, substance abuse, and peer relationships.
• Consult with parents, teachers, and administrators to promote student success and understanding of developmental behaviors.
• Coordinate with school and community personnel to provide career and educational resources.
• Assist students with individual planning, including academic planning, credit consultation, and college/career readiness.
• Facilitate the referral process for students requiring special programs such as gifted, bilingual, or special education services.
• Maintain professional records and evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and activities.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Texas School Counselor’s certificate.
• Valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate.
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience.
