Herbicide Applicator

Responsibilities

• Apply herbicide to manage vines and brush within utility rights-of-way
• Contact property owners and public agencies regarding pruning, removals, and herbicide work
• Create and maintain organized spray records and manage data
• Conduct tree and brush inventories as well as hazard tree inspections and evaluations
• Plan work for tree contractors
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area
• Enforce on-the-job safety practices
• Service trucks and equipment to ensure they are kept in a neat and orderly fashion
• Carry and utilize materials, tools, and equipment at the work site

Requirements

• Valid Herbicide Applicator License, or the ability to obtain one within three months of hire
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to frequently lift up to 40 pounds and maneuver through various terrain with spray equipment
• Species identification skills and knowledge of invasive species
• Proficient map navigation skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data collection software
• Ability to work independently and travel in rugged terrain and inclement weather
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or a related field
• Experience in utility line clearance
• GIS experience
• Ability to obtain ISA Arborist Certification within 12 months of job offer
