About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist Registered Nurses with direct patient care in the Hemodialysis Unit
  • Prime, dismantle, and disinfect dialysis machines and set up equipment
  • Perform patient transportation via bed, walker, or wheelchair
  • Assist patients with weighing, transfers, and heavy lifting
  • Manage unit supplies, including stocking storage rooms
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and perform routine safety measures
  • Document information in patient charts while protecting sensitive records

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Previous experience in direct or indirect patient care
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and nights

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous medical/surgical or hospital assistant experience
  • Technical experience or completion of a Dialysis Assistant course
  • Current CPR certification
