About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist Registered Nurses with direct patient care in the Hemodialysis Unit
- Prime, dismantle, and disinfect dialysis machines and set up equipment
- Perform patient transportation via bed, walker, or wheelchair
- Assist patients with weighing, transfers, and heavy lifting
- Manage unit supplies, including stocking storage rooms
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area and perform routine safety measures
- Document information in patient charts while protecting sensitive records
Requirements
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Previous experience in direct or indirect patient care
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and nights
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous medical/surgical or hospital assistant experience
- Technical experience or completion of a Dialysis Assistant course
- Current CPR certification
