Heavy Equipment Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance and repairs on mining equipment including excavators, bulldozers, haul trucks, and loaders
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
• Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, axles, and related mechanical systems
• Conduct inspections to assess machinery condition and identify potential problems
• Use diagnostic tools to test engine performance, electrical systems, and hydraulics
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, parts used, and labor time
• Collaborate with operators and supervisors to minimize operational downtime
• Mentor junior mechanics on proper techniques and safety practices
• Ensure all work complies with company safety protocols and regulatory standards

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Vocational training in heavy equipment mechanics or a related field recommended
• 3-5 years of experience working with heavy machinery
• Experience in mining, construction, or industrial settings preferred
