Heavy Equipment Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery and equipment used in the arborary industry, including skid-steers and grapple trucks
• Conduct initial equipment inspections to ensure machinery is safe and ready for daily tasks
• Set up worksites by positioning equipment correctly and establishing safety barriers, signs, and flags
• Perform landscape maintenance tasks such as stump grinding and fertilization
• Identify potential machinery problems, perform minor repairs, and maintain accurate usage and maintenance records
• Enforce on-the-job safety practices to protect employees, the public, and the environment
• Report on job progress, site conditions, and any equipment damage or accidents according to company protocols

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Class 1 license with air brakes and a current driver's abstract
• Proven experience operating heavy equipment, specifically Tandem Axel Grapple Trucks and Sennebogen equipment
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Apple-based products
• Ability to work in noisy environments and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies or natural disasters

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates
• Experience working around hazardous equipment in an arborary or landscaping setting
