Heavy Equipment Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery including rolling compactors, excavators, bulldozers, and front-end loaders to manage solid waste placement and landfill maintenance.
• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment safety and cleanliness.
• Monitor equipment condition and perform minor servicing to minimize downtime.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and document necessary repairs for supervisors.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, ensuring the shop is clean and equipment is properly stored at the end of each shift.
• Assist with excavation, dirt hauling, traffic control, and spotting trucks for dumping.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience operating light, medium, or heavy equipment (e.g., backhoes, bulldozers, or roll-off trucks).
• Valid Ohio Driver's License.
• Valid DOT Medical Card (required if holding a commercial license).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working specifically at a landfill.
• Valid Ohio Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
