Heavy Equipment Operator

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair roads, streets, curbs, drainage structures, and other improved areas on a military installation
• Operate heavy construction equipment to finish grade, level, slope, and compact construction materials
• Interpret construction drawings and surveys to determine subgrade contours and grade alignment
• Investigate work sites to determine resource requirements and plan/estimate jobs
• Coordinate work requirements with civil engineering and base agencies
• Perform erosion control and maintain graded roads, ditches, and foundations
• Execute chain link fence construction and repair

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of five years of recent heavy equipment experience in military or commercial applications
• Specific equipment certification (e.g., OSHA Certified Crane Operator, Forklift, Front-End Loader, CTL Skid Steer, Excavator, or Street Sweeper) or experience in chain link fence repair
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required)
• Valid Driver's License
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical instructions and safety rules

Preferred Qualifications

• CDL Class A or B driver’s license
