Heavy Equipment Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment and participate in general yard activities
• Sort and identify metals using tests and magnets
• Receive, unload, and direct metals to appropriate zones
• Verify the quality of received and handled materials
• Use various equipment including cranes, loaders, Bobcats, and forklifts
• Load ferrous materials for customers
• Perform manual tasks related to daily operations such as sorting and organizing materials

Requirements

• 2 to 3 years of experience in heavy equipment operation (crane, loader, or equivalent)
• Ability to work in a physical environment outdoors in all weather conditions
• Strong teamwork skills and adaptability to changing priorities
• Commitment to occupational health and safety
• Proactive and versatile attitude

Preferred Qualifications

• DEP in construction equipment operation or relevant heavy machinery training
• Experience in scrap yards or the recycling industry
• Knowledge of metals
