About the role

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair MSV mechanical systems including engines, power units, and drivetrain components
  • Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, compressed-air, and electrical systems
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, lubrication, and component replacements
  • Diagnose faults using mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical testing tools
  • Conduct pre-use and post-use inspections on braking systems, safety interlocks, and steering modules
  • Ensure compliance with tunnelling safety regulations and confined-space operational rules
  • Coordinate with TBM logistics teams to ensure vehicle availability
  • Follow Ontario OHSA tunnel-specific safety procedures and emergency response expectations

Requirements

  • Completion of a 3–4-year apprenticeship program in industrial mechanic/millwrighting or 5+ years of experience in industrial machinery repair
  • Strong knowledge of MSV components including power units, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and equipment specifications
  • Skilled in diagnostics and heavy-equipment repair
  • Familiarity with underground and tunnelling operations and confined-space work
  • Physically capable of lifting, climbing, and crawling in restricted spaces
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) trade certification
  • Additional mechanical or electrical equipment certifications
  • Understanding of underground rescue procedures and air-monitoring principles
