Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair MSV mechanical systems including engines, power units, and drivetrain components
• Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, compressed-air, and electrical systems
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, lubrication, and component replacements
• Diagnose faults using mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical testing tools
• Conduct pre-use and post-use inspections on braking systems and safety interlocks
• Ensure compliance with tunnelling safety regulations and confined-space rules
• Coordinate with TBM logistics teams to ensure vehicle availability

Requirements

• Completion of a 3–4-year apprenticeship program in industrial mechanic/millwrighting or 5+ years of industrial machinery repair experience
• Strong knowledge of MSV components, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and equipment specifications
• Skilled in diagnostics and heavy-equipment repair
• Ability to work underground in confined spaces, elevated noise, and variable temperatures
• Physically capable of lifting, climbing, and crawling in restricted spaces

Preferred Qualifications

• Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) trade certification
• Additional mechanical or electrical equipment certifications
• Understanding of underground rescue procedures and air-monitoring principles
