Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on construction equipment using systematic troubleshooting techniques
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and scheduled maintenance interventions
• Repair and replace worn or damaged components including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and undercarriage parts
• Maintain detailed and organized maintenance records, work logs, and documentation
• Conduct equipment inspections to identify potential safety risks and ensure regulatory compliance
• Use diagnostic equipment and test tools to accurately assess equipment condition
• Manage repair timelines to minimize downtime and maintain operational productivity
• Communicate technical findings and repair recommendations to supervisors and operators
• Adhere to all safety protocols and best practices in the shop and in the field

Requirements

• Proven experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components
• Proficiency in reading technical manuals, diagrams, and maintenance documentation
• Hands-on experience using diagnostic equipment and test tools
• Good understanding of preventive maintenance principles and intervention planning
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in construction equipment maintenance or a related technical field
• Experience with various types of construction equipment (hydraulic excavators, loaders, bulldozers, etc.)
• Knowledge of fleet management systems
