Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and diagnose faulty operations and parts across heavy diesel equipment
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance inspections on all vehicles and machinery
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
• Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and components as needed
• Interpret technical manuals, diagnostic charts, and schematics
• Order necessary parts for repairs and maintenance activities
• Communicate with operators to diagnose problems and plan repair work
• Input and maintain work orders and repair logs in fleet management systems like Fleetio or Samsara
• Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment

Requirements

• Diploma from a trade school or relevant technical certification
• Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
• Strong knowledge of air compressors, CAT, John Deere, and Deutz diesel engines
• Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Ability to lift 50 lbs overhead and perform sustained physical labor in all weather conditions
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
• Personal vehicle and ability to drive to job sites within approximately 75 miles

Preferred Qualifications

• CDL A driver's license
• Experience working with drilling rigs
• Experience using torches and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication
• Familiarity with maintenance software platforms like Fleetio or Samsara
