About the role
Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, and diagnose faulty operations and parts across heavy diesel equipment
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance inspections on all vehicles and machinery
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
- Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and components as needed
- Interpret technical manuals, diagnostic charts, and schematics
- Order necessary parts for repairs and maintenance activities
- Communicate with operators to diagnose problems and plan repair work
- Input and maintain work orders and repair logs in fleet management systems like Fleetio or Samsara
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
Requirements
- Diploma from a trade school or relevant technical certification
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- Strong knowledge of air compressors, CAT, John Deere, and Deutz diesel engines
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to lift 50 lbs overhead and perform sustained physical labor in all weather conditions
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
- Personal vehicle and ability to drive to job sites within approximately 75 miles
Preferred Qualifications
- CDL A driver's license
- Experience working with drilling rigs
- Experience using torches and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication
- Familiarity with maintenance software platforms like Fleetio or Samsara
