Heavy Duty Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of mechanical equipment used in SEM and tunneling works
• Work collaboratively with engineers, foremen, and site managers to support mechanical activities
• Conduct inspections on mechanical installations and repairs to maintain high workmanship standards
• Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices related to tunneling and mechanized works
• Manage tools, materials, and mechanical components needed for SEM operations
• Maintain accurate records of mechanical work, including daily logs and equipment usage
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues to minimize operational delays
• Coordinate with the equipment manager to ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed

Requirements

• 7-10 years of experience in mechanical work within the construction industry
• Experience in tunneling or underground construction preferred
• Proven track record in a supervisory role
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, and blueprints
• Strong knowledge of SEM tunneling processes and mechanical systems
• Deep understanding of safety regulations in tunneling and underground construction
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to register as a member of the local union
