Heavy Duty Diesel Truck Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, or overhaul buses, trucks, and heavy equipment
• Diagnose malfunctions and interpret diagnostic test results
• Test drive vehicles to ensure correct operation after repairs
• Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and engines
• Use hydraulic jacks or hoists to raise heavy parts and equipment
• Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts, and attach system components

Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of technician experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift and move equipment or parts weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical or trade school certificate
• Dealership experience
• CDL and DOT health card
