Heavy Duty Diesel Truck Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, or overhaul buses, trucks, and heavy equipment
• Diagnose malfunctions and consult with customers on diagnostic results
• Read and interpret diagnostic test results
• Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and engines
• Repair or replace malfunctioning mechanical or electrical components
• Test-drive vehicles to ensure correct operation after repairs
• Use hydraulic jacks or hoists to raise heavy parts and equipment

Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of technician experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a background check, MVR check, and pre-employment physical
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical or trade school certificate
• Dealership experience
• CDL and DOT health card
