Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment including steam valves, coils, radiators, boilers, and pumps.
• Provide preventive maintenance for fan coil units, air compressors, and packaged roof-top units.
• Troubleshoot and replace fuses, coils, and contacts on mechanical equipment.
• Perform basic plumbing repairs such as unclogging drains and repairing water leaks.
• Conduct basic electrical repairs including changing light bulbs, ballasts, and light fixtures.
• Perform daily inspections of mechanical rooms, swimming pools, and rowing tanks.
• Assist Facilities staff with larger projects and general maintenance tasks such as gutter cleaning and furniture assembly.
• Participate in on-call assignments and overtime as required by the academic calendar.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3-5 years of experience in heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment, move furniture, and work in tight spaces.
• Ability to safely use tools and work from ladders and scaffolding.
• Ability to complete required safety trainings, including lock out tag out, confined space, and OSHA training.
