About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform technical services, investigations, and visual inspections to ensure university activities comply with federal, state, and local safety requirements.
- Maintain detailed records to ensure sanctioned activities are performed according to University policies and procedures.
- Monitor activities to prevent adverse health effects on faculty, staff, students, visitors, and the community.
- Implement measures to protect the environment and conserve University resources while limiting future liability.
- Utilize various sampling equipment and software applications to support safety inspections and data management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus two years of specialized and directly relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Scientific training in physical, chemical, or life sciences at the undergraduate level.
- Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to wear a respirator.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with compliance committees such as IBC, IACUC, or IRB.
- Knowledge of Laboratory Safety protocols.
- Knowledge of animal welfare requirements and AALAC.
- Knowledge of Clinical and Healthcare Safety requirements and Joint Commission (JCAHO).
