Health & Safety Manager

Responsibilities

• Foster a culture of safety across City departments and support the comprehensive health and safety program
• Analyze work sites, procedures, and equipment to identify risks of injury and occupational illness
• Develop and implement controls for workplace hazards and reduce organizational risk and liability
• Monitor compliance with OH&S regulations, legislation, standards, and City policies
• Investigate safety concerns and incidents, preparing reports with recommendations
• Coordinate health and safety projects, education programs, and ergonomic assessments
• Guide and support the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
• Maintain City COR Certification and backup Emergency Management when required

Requirements

• Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Occupational Health and/or Safety, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Valid BC Class 5 driver's license
• Satisfactory police information check

Preferred Qualifications

• CRSP, ROH, or CIH designation (or working towards)
• Public sector or unionized environment experience
