Health & Safety Advisor

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety and environmental audits within mechanical and electrical operations
• Inspect worksites to ensure compliance with company, client, and government legislation
• Review and complete incident and inspection reports and ensure corrective action is taken
• Participate in the development and implementation of health and safety programs and strategies
• Provide consultation and deliver training programs to employees on health and safety issues
• Assist, advise, and coach managers and supervisors on safety practices
• Conduct audits of subcontractor loss control programs
• Support investigation and cleanup of spills related to the environmental program

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in the HSE related field
• Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, or equivalent
• Working knowledge of provincial and federal HSE regulations, programs, and standards
• Knowledge of the OHSA
• Experience working within the ICI construction sector
• Familiarity with industry guidelines, ESA Code, TSSA Standards, and CSA standards
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HSE databases
• Ability to understand technical drawings and systems
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)

Preferred Qualifications

• NCSO, CUSP, or CRSP designations
• Training in Fall Protection, Working at Heights, First-Aid/CPR, Confined Space, Electrical Awareness, or Asbestos Awareness
• Certificate of Qualification as a Journeyman Electrician, Plumber/Pipe Fitter, or Sheet Metal worker
