Health & Safety Advisor

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor health and safety hazards and develop control strategies for electrical ICI construction job sites
• Conduct safety and environmental audits within electrical utilities construction operations
• Inspect worksites to ensure compliance with company, client, and government legislation
• Review and complete incident and inspection reports and ensure corrective action is taken
• Participate in the development of health and safety programs and safe work practices
• Provide consultation and deliver training programs to employees on health and safety issues
• Assist, advise, and coach managers and supervisors on safety protocols
• Conduct audits of subcontractor loss control programs
• Support accurate investigation and reporting of environmental spills

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in the HSE related field
• Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, or equivalent
• Experience working within the electrical ICI construction sector
• Working knowledge of provincial and federal HSE regulations, programs, and standards
• Familiarity with ESA Code, TSSA Standards, and CSA standards
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HSE databases
• Ability to understand technical drawings and systems
• Fluency in English (written and oral)

Preferred Qualifications

• NCSO, CUSP, or CRSP designations
• Certificate of Qualification as a Journeyman Electrician
• Training in Fall Protection, Working at Heights, First-Aid/CPR, Confined Space, Electrical Awareness, or Asbestos Awareness
