Health Professions Advisor

Responsibilities

• Provide individual academic advising to students pursuing careers in medicine, dental, physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and chiropractic medicine.
• Assist students with admissions requirements, course selection, academic major discernment, and graduate school applications.
• Support the teaching of the course IDS 329 Transitions to Health Professions.
• Develop web resources and on-campus learning opportunities for pre-health students.
• Present on health professions at Admissions-sponsored recruitment events and through group advising sessions.
• Partner with the full-time Health Professions Advisor to ensure consistent messaging and advising practices.
• Collaborate with campus partners to raise the profile of the Pre-Health Professions program.
• Serve on the Health Professions Advisory Committee.

Requirements

• Master's level education in science, health-related fields, counseling, higher education, or student affairs (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in academic advising and/or significant familiarity with natural and applied sciences.
• Strong knowledge of various health professions and their requirements.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication and writing skills.
• Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment and as a collaborative team player.
• Commitment to the goals and character of a Christian liberal arts college.
