Health Insurance Underwriter Manager

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and approve rating and plan design quotes within underwriting models
• Oversee day-to-day workflow of underwriting staff, including assignment prioritization and quality review
• Mentor, train, and develop underwriting staff to build technical skills and business judgment
• Collaborate with clients to gather information for underwriting decisions and explain outcomes
• Coordinate with senior leadership on complex cases and strategic client situations
• Establish and reinforce underwriting standards, best practices, and quality control procedures
• Provide recommendations for improving rating models, processes, and training programs

Requirements

• 5+ years of health insurance underwriting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and business skills
• Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor less experienced staff
• Strong leadership presence and ability to manage multiple project deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior supervisory, team lead, or management experience
