About the role
Responsibilities
- Process release of information (ROI) and medical record requests accurately and efficiently
- Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged patient information per HIPAA regulations
- Prepare new patient charts and gather documents from paper and electronic health record sources
- Ensure medical records are complete, accurate, and assembled in standard order
- Create digital images of paperwork for storage in the electronic medical record
- Respond to patient record requests and transmit them appropriately
- Answer inbound and outbound calls and manage incoming and outgoing faxes
- Assist with administrative duties such as mail handling and data entry
- Meet productivity expectations as outlined for the specific site
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Basic computer proficiency and strong data entry skills
- Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accurate and compliant medical records
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and manage multiple tasks
- Able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology
- Familiarity with EHR and billing systems
- Experience working with subpoenas
- Experience in a healthcare or production/metric-based work environment
- In-person customer service experience
