Health Information Specialist I

Responsibilities

• Process release of information (ROI) and medical record requests accurately and efficiently
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient privacy and confidentiality
• Prepare, assemble, and ensure completeness of patient charts and medical records
• Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical record storage
• Respond to internal and external requests for patient records
• Answer inbound and outbound calls regarding medical records status
• Assist with administrative tasks such as faxing, mail, and data entry
• Meet site-specific productivity expectations

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Basic computer proficiency
• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to commute between locations as needed
• Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare environment
• Customer service and data entry experience
• Release of Information (ROI) experience
• Previous production or metric-based work experience
• Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers
