Health Information Specialist I

Responsibilities

• Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with Company and Facility policies
• Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged information and HIPAA standards
• Prepare new patient charts by gathering documents from paper or electronic health records
• Ensure medical records are assembled in standard order and are accurate and complete
• Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical record storage
• Respond to requests for patient records from internal and external sources
• Handle inbound and outbound calls and assist with patient walk-ins
• Perform administrative duties including handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry
• Meet productivity expectations in a high-volume production environment

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic computer proficiency
• Ability to use phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
• Strong data entry skills and attention to detail
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to commute between locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare environment
• Previous production or metric-based work experience
• In-person customer service experience
• Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers
