Health Information Specialist I

Responsibilities

• Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with Company and Facility policies
• Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged information and HIPAA standards
• Manage patient health records, including preparing new charts and gathering documents from paper or electronic sources
• Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
• Respond to medical record requests from internal and external sources
• Handle inbound and outbound calls from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys
• Perform administrative duties such as data entry, handling faxes, and opening mail
• Meet productivity expectations in a high-volume production environment

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic computer proficiency
• Strong data entry skills
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to commute between locations as needed
• Ability to work overtime during peak seasons

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare environment
• Previous production or metric-based work experience
• In-person customer service experience
• Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers
