Health Information Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process release of information (ROI) and medical record requests accurately and efficiently
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, company policy, and patient privacy standards
• Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged health information
• Prepare new patient charts by gathering documents from paper sources and electronic health records
• Assemble medical records in standard order and verify accuracy and completeness
• Create digital images of paperwork for storage in electronic medical records
• Respond to internal and external requests for patient records and transmit them appropriately
• Answer inbound and outbound calls and assist with patient walk-ins as needed
• Handle administrative duties including faxes, mail, and data entry
• Meet productivity expectations as outlined for the specific site

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Basic computer proficiency and strong data entry skills
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to commute between locations as needed
• Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons
• Detail-oriented with focus on accuracy and regulatory compliance
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare environment
• Previous production or metric-based work experience
• In-person customer service experience
