Health Information Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process release of information (ROI) and medical record requests accurately and efficiently
• Safeguard patient privacy and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Manage patient health records and prepare new patient charts
• Handle incoming and outgoing faxes of medical records
• Respond to patient record requests from internal and external sources
• Provide phone support and assist with patient walk-ins
• Perform administrative duties including data entry, opening mail, and handling faxes
• Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged information

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic computer proficiency
• Strong data entry skills
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to commute between locations as needed
• Ability to work overtime during peak seasons

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology
• Familiarity with different EHR and Billing Systems
• Experience working with subpoenas
• Previous experience in a healthcare environment
• Previous production or metric-based work experience
• In-person customer service experience
