Health Information Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process release of information and medical record requests in compliance with HIPAA and company policy
• Maintain confidentiality and security of patient health information
• Prepare new patient charts and assemble medical records in standard order
• Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical record storage
• Respond to internal and external requests for patient records
• Handle front desk tasks, patient walk-ins, and inbound/outbound calls
• Perform administrative duties such as fax handling, mail, and data entry

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Basic computer proficiency and strong data entry skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to commute between locations as needed
• Able to work overtime during peak seasons
• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology
• Familiarity with EHR and billing systems
• Experience working with subpoenas
• Experience in a healthcare environment
• Previous production/metric-based work experience
• In-person customer service experience
