Health Information Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process release of information (ROI) and medical record requests accurately and efficiently
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and safeguard patient privacy
• Handle patient walk-ins and assist with record requests in a professional manner
• Prepare new patient charts and digitize paperwork for electronic health records
• Respond to internal and external requests for patient records
• Answer inbound and outbound calls and assist with administrative duties

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic computer proficiency and strong data entry skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to commute between locations as needed
• Able to work overtime during peak seasons
• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment
• Detail-oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology
• Familiarity with EHR and billing systems
• Experience working with subpoenas
• Prior experience in a healthcare or production/metric-based environment
• In-person customer service experience
