Health Care Aide

Responsibilities

• Perform essential care tasks and assist residents with activities of daily living, including dressing, toileting, bathing, and feeding.
• Assist with meal and snack preparation, service, and maintaining a clean dining environment.
• Monitor and document vital signs, measurements, and weights, reporting any significant changes to the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Contribute to the development and implementation of Resident Care Plans.
• Deliver prepackaged medications to residents according to established policies.
• Assist with resident transportation to and from appointments.
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and home-like environment for residents, including laundry and room tidying.
• Provide emotional support and advocacy for residents while communicating effectively with families and caregivers.
• Document all care and incidents accurately on Resident Health Records.

Requirements

• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Certified Health Care/Personal Care/Nursing Care Aide program recognized by Alberta Health Services.
• Current registration with the Alberta HCA Registry.
• Current Medication Administration Certification.
• Standard First Aid with Level C CPR & AED.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification.
• Criminal Police Investigation Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience in a supportive living setting.
• Recent experience working with mental health clients.
