Health Care Aide

Responsibilities

• Provide physical and emotional care for hospice residents in collaboration with the Registered Nurse
• Monitor resident safety and attend to personal needs including bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Address physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs in alignment with organizational values
• Complete cleaning tasks for equipment, beds, resident rooms, and the kitchenette
• Report changes in resident condition, unmanaged symptoms, or skin/mouth concerns to the Registered Nurse
• Document all care provided in a timely manner before the end of each shift
• Assist with post-mortem care and participate in staff meetings and interdisciplinary rounds

Requirements

• Health Care Aide Certificate or Personal Care Attendant Certificate
• Active registration with the Health Care Aide Directory of Alberta
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Fluency in English, both oral and written

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in a palliative care setting
• Experience caring for individuals with cancer or life-limiting illnesses
