Health Care Aide

Responsibilities

• Provide essential personal care, including dressing, toileting, bathing, and feeding, to residents
• Assist with activities of daily living and social engagement to support resident well-being
• Monitor and document vital signs, measurements, and changes in resident health status
• Deliver prepackaged medications according to established policies and procedures
• Assist with meal service, including preparation, serving, and maintaining dining area cleanliness
• Perform safe lifts and transfers using proper body mechanics and mechanical equipment
• Maintain accurate documentation in Resident Health Records and report incidents to the LPN
• Support a clean and home-like environment by managing resident rooms and personal belongings

Requirements

• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of a Certified Health Care Aide program from a recognized institution
• Current registration with the Alberta HCA Registry
• Standard First Aid with Level C CPR & AED certification
• Current Medication Administration Certification
• Criminal Police Investigation Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
• Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience in a supportive living setting
• Recent experience working with mental health clients
