Health Care Aide

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, and skin care
• Assist with transfers and mobilization using body mechanics and mechanical aids like walkers, wheelchairs, and lifts
• Perform nursing procedures such as administering suppositories, enemas, collecting specimens, and applying non-sterile dressings
• Monitor and record resident observations, including appetite, mobility, temperature, and behavior, reporting changes to the RN or LPN
• Assist residents with meals by serving trays, feeding, and monitoring nutritional intake and output
• Maintain a clean environment by changing beds and sanitizing resident equipment
• Complete daily Point of Care (POC) assessments and perform related clerical duties
• Report malfunctioning equipment or safety hazards to the Team Leader

Requirements

• Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistance or Health Care Aide program
• Current registration and good standing with the BC Care Aide Registry
• Valid Food Safe certificate
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate
• Clear Criminal Record check
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
